Brenon Odle, Facility & Equipment Director

Brenon Odle is the current Facilities and Equipment Director for United Sports Alliance as well as the Head Coach for the 15U Girls Travel Team. A native of Kansas, he grew up playing all sports, excelling in football, track, wrestling, and baseball and going onto play football in college. Injuries cut his career short, and he went on to finish college journey with a Doctorate in Jurisprudence. During college and into adulthood, he transitioned his love of playing sports into coaching future generations of athletes, both on the field and off. Brenon truly believes in using athletics to create well rounded athletes who not only excel on the field or court, but also in all aspects of life.

Coach “Clean”, as he is affectionately known, is a true unicorn when it comes to sports. He has seamlessly transitioned from great success as a baseball coach into championship teams as a football coach, while ultimately landing on his true passion, coaching volleyball. Over the course of 20+ years of coaching youth sports, he has won at all levels and last year, as the inaugural coach of the Tri-City 14U team, led his first-year squad to a 40-23 record with countless top 5 finishes and a tourney win.

What sets Brenon apart from a lot of coaches is that he is a true player coach. No one will find him yelling or screaming at practice from the sideline; instead he chooses to know each player and develop a coaching style to fit that player. He believes in empowering the player on the court and letting them set their own style, then using very directed coaching points to fully capitalize on a player’s talent. Once he has identified every player’s unique strength, he will blend the six players on the court into one synchronous unit, where no one player must outshine any other player for team success. That does not mean extremely talented players won’t stand out. Instead, their talents reach their full potential because there is no strain or stress to have to carry a team. Brenon builds his teams to be strong at all positions on all rotations.

The concept of ‘team’ is what really drew Brenon to volleyball. It truly is unique because, unlike other sports, no one single player can dictate the outcome of the game. All six girls on the court must play their own role, trust each other, and communicate on every touch of the ball. Coincidentally, the traits he looks for in a player center around 1) coachability and 2) work ethic. Without those characteristics, players will not fit into his ‘team first’ concept where no single player is more important than any other, from roster spot 1 to 10 on the squad.

Outside of coaching, Brenon proudly serves in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant Commander but is most proud to be a husband to a teacher and father to three very busy teenagers. If he is not coaching, he is spending time with his family or squeezing in a daily workout. The same dedication he brings to his role in the military and as a father/husband, he brings to every single player on his team.
